Edit a Zone (and Alerts)
Overview
Editing a zone opens a richer screen than adding one. As well as changing the zone's name and description, the Edit screen lets you turn on LibreQoS speed limits for the whole zone, set up outage alerts (which are only available here, not when adding), and see the subscribers assigned to the zone.
The Edit screen has three tabs:
- Config — the zone's main settings.
- Alert — outage alerts for the zone (edit-only).
- Audit Timeline — the change history (see Common Features).
Who Can Use This Feature
Network administrators and staff who organise the network.
Required Permissions
- Zone → Update to change the zone.
- Zone → Show to view it and its assigned subscribers.
Prerequisites
- The zone already exists (see Add a Zone).
Navigation
Networking → Zone / Node → Zone tab → Edit on a zone.
Config tab
| Field | Required | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | The zone's name. | North Town |

| LibreQos Enabled | No | Apply LibreQoS bandwidth shaping to this zone. | On/Off |
| Upload Speed Limit | If LibreQoS on | Zone-wide upload limit (LibreQoS). | 125 |
| Download Speed Limit | If LibreQoS on | Zone-wide download limit (LibreQoS). | 125 |
| Enabled | No | Whether the zone is active. | On |
Select Update to save the Config tab.
Alert tab (edit-only)
The Alert tab lets Netzur warn you when too many subscribers in the zone go offline — useful for spotting an outage in that area.
- Turn on Alert Enabled. The alert options appear.
- Choose the Alert Channels — Email, SMS and/or WhatsApp.
- Set the Alert Threshold (%) — the percentage of offline subscribers that triggers the alert.
- Enter the Alert Mobile No and/or Alert Email that should receive the alert.
- Select Update (this tab has its own Update button).
| Field | Required | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alert Enabled | No | Turns zone alerts on. | On |
| Alert Channels | If enabled | Where the alert is sent (Email / SMS / WhatsApp). | SMS, Email |
| Alert Threshold (%) | Yes (if enabled) | Offline percentage that triggers the alert. | 50 |
| Alert Mobile No | No | Number to receive SMS/WhatsApp alerts. | (mobile) |
| Alert Email | No | Address to receive email alerts. | (email) |
⚠ Alerts send real SMS/Email/WhatsApp. Make sure the relevant notification channel is configured (see the Config section) and that the threshold isn't so low that you get alerted constantly.
Assigned Subscribers
Below the tabs, the Edit screen lists the subscribers assigned to this zone (status, KYC, username, name, package, expiry), so you can see who is affected by the zone at a glance.
What Happens After Saving
Config changes apply to the zone (including LibreQoS limits if enabled). Alert settings are saved separately via the Alert tab's own Update button and begin watching the zone's offline percentage.
Important Notes
- The Alert tab exists only when editing — you cannot set alerts while adding a zone.
- LibreQoS limits apply to the whole zone; use with care.
Common Mistakes
- Setting an alert but leaving the channel (SMS/Email/WhatsApp) unconfigured in the notification settings.
- Saving the Config tab and expecting the Alert tab to save too — each tab has its own Update button.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No alerts arrive | Channel not configured, or alert disabled | Check the notification settings and that Alert Enabled is on. |
| Alerts too frequent | Threshold too low | Raise the Alert Threshold (%). |
