Usernames & Passwords

Overview

A subscriber has two sets of credentials:

  • Connection username/password — used by their router/device to get online (PPPoE/Hotspot).
  • Portal username/password — used to log in to the customer self-care portal (UCP).

The Change Username and Change Password actions let you update either (or both together), and each change is logged.

Important Notes

  • Changing the connection username/password means the customer's router must be updated to match, or they'll drop offline.
  • Changing the portal credentials only affects the self-care login.
  • Same in portal keeps both in sync when you want one shared login.
  • The subscriber may need to reconnect for a new connection password to take effect.

Common Mistakes

  • Changing the connection password but not telling the customer to update their router.
  • Confusing the connection login with the portal login.
