Reset MAC & NAS Port

Overview

These two actions clear a subscriber's device/port binding so they can re-bind on their next connection — used when a customer changes hardware or their line moves to a different port:

  • Reset MAC — clear the bound device MAC address.
  • Reset NAS Port ID — clear the bound port/interface.

Required Permissions

  • Subscriber → Reset MAC and Reset NAS Port ID respectively.

Subscribers → (open a subscriber)Reset MAC (header) and Other Actions ▾ → Reset NAS Port ID

Reset MAC

The Reset MAC button clears the MAC address currently bound to the subscriber, so the next device that connects is learned as the new one. Use it when a customer replaces their router or device. It asks only for a Remark.

Reset NAS Port ID

Other Actions ▾ → Reset NAS Port ID clears the bound port/interface (used together with NAS Port ID Check on the Technical Info tab). Use it when the customer's line is moved to a different port. It asks only for a Remark.

Important Notes

  • These are only meaningful when MAC Check / NAS Port ID Check are on — those settings lock the subscriber to a specific device/port (an anti-sharing measure). Resetting temporarily unlocks the binding until the subscriber next connects and a new value is learned.
  • The subscriber may need to reconnect for the new binding to take effect.

Common Mistakes

  • Resetting the MAC but the customer's device is offline, so nothing new is learned yet.
  • Expecting a reset to change speed or plan — it only affects device/port binding.
